Sensory intergration
Sensory diet is a term heard by many parents with autism. How do I fulfill my child's sensory diet; is a question asked by so many parents. I asked this to a few different therapist and received one similar response. You need to see what already seems to fufill his/her sensory needs already then find items that are similar, but have the ability to teach them new things as well.

In light of the recent celebration of The American Disabilities Act other wise known as ACT 20, I thought I would share some helpful information. Many states offer ACT 20 grants for children with Autism and other special needs. Some states do not have really low income restrictions and it is based on need for the child instead. Although obtaining these grants can be difficult at times they can be very beneficial in aiding parents or guardians to make adaptions to their homes for their special needs child or pay for the therapy items needed for home.

Autism effects many. Working in the community as a Case Manager it helped me realize that Autism is on the rise but resources are limited. I have found the best way to find resources is by sharing stories with others. Use this forum to share your stories and help others find resources. I will start by saying, if you do not know where to begin and your child has been recently diagnosed with Autism start by finding you local county Mental Health/Mental Retardation office and request a caseworker to help you find services and funding to aid your child.
